Clinical Guidelines

Home visitors should use the assessment tools indicated in these guidelines or program models. If home visitors use assessment tools other than those delineated by the guidelines or program models, those tools should be evaluated for appropriateness (e.g., evidence-based, validated, equitable, etc.).

Local agencies are responsible for having appropriate local guidelines in place for any other clinical care expected by home visitors and not addressed by these guidelines (e.g., wound care, fluoride varnish).
